Day 2: A Brave New World
Day 2
Brave New World
Dear Diary,
Well. What can I say? Yesterday my world was turned upside down by these new people we call Mom and Dad! Me, sweet, innocent Mina, just a little 8 week old Rottweiler, minding my own business, eating, pooping, chewing on my sisters. I thought I was living the life on our farm, but now that life is GONE!!!
I was taken away, and no one asked if I wanted to go!! Well, it's not that I didn't want to go, but, I really think I should have been asked before I was snatched away form everything I knew. I guess there's no point crying over spilled kibble...I have a new home and I have to make the most of it. Here is the story of all the terrible things that have happened since my last journal entry!
After years and years riding in the truck (Dad says it was an easy 2 hour ride, but, I think he must have been on a different ride), we came to the place they say is home.
We will live in town, in a house instead of in the country on a farm. I do have to admit that the yard is very nice though, and I have a lot more to explore than just our old puppy pen. I had a lot of area to explore, and am starting to map out all the best nap spots (under the deck, under the patio table on the cool concrete, under the lilac bush in the cool dirt )
I was planning to act cranky just to show I was unhappy to have left my home, but, right away Mom took me to a place called “a store” and let me pick out a new squeaky toy and a beautiful collar. [Dad doesn't approve of the collar because it has flowers on it and he says a brave Rottie girl like me don't need no stinkin' sissy collar. I like Dad's style...].
When we came home from the store, I got to have my dinner and play outside with my toys. Mom threw a ball for me and got all excited just because I picked it up and brought it right back to her. She made SUCH a fuss, but, well, DUH! I have to bring it back If I want her to throw it again don't I? She says I am brilliant. Again, duh....When it was time for bed I got put in a horrible, terrible prison filled with soft blankets and toys. They think comforts would fool me into resting quietly. Little did they know I was the best singer in my litter! I did a little warm up whine for a minute or two then let them sleep....until 4am. Then I gave them my best Queen of the Night aria. Mom didn't seem to appreciate it much when she came and took me outside. She liked my encore performance at 6am even less....
The first full day at the new house was full of surprises! Mom and Dad did a lot of hustling around the house all morning because something called “company” was coming. I had some pretty scary mental images of what the dreaded company could be...would it be big? Have huge, pointy teeth and shaggy fur?? I was getting more anxious by the minute and by the time Mom said “they're here!” I think I may have done a little tinkle on the floor just from anticipation...and GUESS WHAT?? Company is GREAT!! We had some very nice hoomans over including a very sweet person they tell me is my Andrea Sister. It was love at first sight for us. In fact, there were big people and little people and I loved them all! For all my apprehension, it may have been the best day ever! People played with me all day, Dad made fire in the big black dragon thing on the patio and made magic smells come from it. I got so much attention, and played so much....I was one very tired, happy pup.
As happy as I was, all our company went
home and left us. It's not that I don't like being here with just Mom and
Dad, but, I really liked having so many playmates. I took a couple of
naps once everyone was gone, and gave Mom and Dad a false sense of
hope about sleep when I went into my prison without a fight at
bedtime...just wait. I'm
planning a little Ride of The Valkyries
serenade for 3am.
Sleep well, ha ha ha
Mina
